Raising a Village from Dispair to Hope

WHY SUPPORT CPG?

CPG exists to help people, one community at a time. Everything we do is geared toward helping the people of disadvantaged communities work together to improve their quality of life. We’ve chosen to focus on four key areas: Health, Education Life Skills, and Agriculture. When all of the project components come together, the result is a stronger community.

A gift given through CPG helps to…

EMPOWER A COMMUNITY

CPG has partnered with local organizations to provide those living in Matangwe the education and training they need to be self-reliant. We partner with local organizations to ensure things are done according to the needs of the specific community. Through education and training, community members can move towards being self-reliant and not having to rely on outsiders as their only support. Creating an environment and awareness around health issues, providing education, training for life skills and opening new local business initiatives providing employment opportunities.

The old adage “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime” applies here.

We desire to see communities become sustainable so they can grow on their own accord. We do this by partnering with local organizations and providing training with the ultimate goal of sustainability so we can begin to move to other communities and provide similar assistance.

IMPROVE LIVES

Quality of life is improved once these programs are in place. Not only intrinsically, but outwardly people are learning new life skills and aware on pressing health issues.

“For the past four years Matangwe sponsorship programme has really sharpened my life because I was unable to continue with my education after class eight and am almost sure that without them I would be nowhere." - Mereline A. Ngesa

PROVIDE A HOPE AND A FUTURE

Education and providing basic needs for children and adults alike provide community members with hope for a successful future. Prospering communities mean more opportunities for the people of those communities.

Success Story

Monica Atieno Ombewa

Birth Date: December 27, 1988
Home Village: Dier Aora

Monica is a total orphan who was living with an elderly grandmother and 3 younger siblings when she came to the attention of Caring Partners Global. At the end of 2005 Monica had completed form 2, equivalent to grade 10, at Lwak Girls’ Secondary School, but was in danger of being unable to return for form 3. Her grandmother could no longer afford the school fees required. As a result of receiving a sponsorship through CPG’s Education Sponsorship Program Monica was able to return to form 3 in January, 2006 and graduated in 2007 scoring in the top 15% on her Kenyan National Exam.

In 2008 CPG’s Education Sponsorship Program helped Monica enroll at Kisumu Industrial Training College to take some computer courses where she eventually applied and was accepted by the Kenyan Medical Training College to study in the Community Health and Nursing Program.

Monica began her studies in September 2009 studying at the Kenyan Medical Training College in the city of Kisii. She gains practical knowledge working on the front lines at the hospital in that city. Monica began her 3rd year at college in September, 2011. Monica is an amazing young lady and we are all very proud of what she has accomplished.

None of this would have be possible without her Canadian sponsors Betty Coulthard-Roe & John Roe and Kathryn & Dwight Storring who continue to help support Monica at college. They must be thrilled to realize what they have allowed Monica to achieve!!
